Pokémon GO Halloween Event 2023: Dates, Pokémon, and Special Features
The highly anticipated Pokémon GO Halloween event is just around the corner, and players are eagerly awaiting the terrifying new features that await them in the popular augmented reality mobile game. This year, the event will be divided into two parts, offering even more spooky fun for trainers.
Part 1: Dates and Times
The first part of the Halloween event will kick off on Thursday, October 19, 2023, at 10:00 local time. Trainers won’t want to miss out on all the exciting activities and bonuses that will be available during this time.
New Pokémon Debuts
During the first part of the Halloween event, two new Ghost-type Pokémon will make their debut in Pokémon GO:
- Greavard
- Houndstone
To evolve Greavard into Houndstone, trainers will need to collect 50 Greavard’s Candies.
Bonuses and Special Features
Trainers can look forward to the following bonuses and special features during the Halloween event:
- Temporal investigation of capturing Ghost-type Pokémon: Available from October 19 to October 31, 2023.
- Temporal research focused on Spiritomb: Available from October 19 to October 31, 2023.
- Additional candies for successful captures with good, great, and excellent throws.
- Trainers level 31 and above will receive more Candy++ when hatching Eggs.
- Double Candy for hatching Pokémon Eggs.
- New avatar items and stickers available for purchase in the in-game store.
- Exclusive partner investigation with Prime Gaming for Amazon Prime members.
- Halloween Bundle in the Pokémon GO Online Store.
- Event Lots available in exchange for Pokécoins.
- Poképarade Exhibits featuring Shuppet, Banette, and Greavard.
- Lavender Town Music: A special remix of Pueblo Lavanda’s music will play during the event.
- Special decorations at Pokéstops and Gyms.
Exclusive Temporary Investigation ‘Enter the Deal’ (Paid)
Niantic has announced a new temporary exclusive paid investigation called ‘Enter the Deal’ for the Halloween 2023 event. Trainers can participate in this investigation for $5.00 (or the equivalent in their local currency) and receive encounters with Ghost-type and Dark-type Pokémon, as well as a Halloween pose for their avatar. The investigation must be completed and rewards claimed by October 31, 2023, at 8:00 p.m. local time.

During the Halloween 2023 event, a variety of Pokémon will appear more frequently for trainers to catch. Here are the featured Pokémon:
Wild Encounters
The following Pokémon can be found in the wild during the event:

- Meowth of Alola*
- Gastly*
- Haunter
- Spinarak*
- Misdreavus*
- Poochyena*
- Shuppet*

- Litwick*
- Phantump*
- Sandygast
Raid Encounters
The following Pokémon will appear in raids during the event:
- 1-star raids: Misdreavus*, Shuppet*, and Drifloon*.
- 3-star raids: Gengar*, Sandygast, and Greavard.
- 5-star raids: Guzzlord* (until October 20) and Darkrai.
- Megaraids: Mega-Gengar* (until October 20) and Mega-Banette*.
Egg Hatches
The following Pokémon can hatch from 7 km eggs during the event:
- Munchlax*
- Riolu*
- Galar Yamask*
Field Research Tasks
By completing field research tasks during the event, trainers have a chance to encounter the following Pokémon:
- Misdreavus*
- Phantump*
