The Matrix Awakens demo is now available on Steam under the name Matrix World – players beware

The Matrix Awakens Demo Returns as Matrix World on Steam

In mid-2022, a remarkable playable test called The Matrix Awakens demo showcased the impressive technical capabilities of Unreal Engine 5. Available for download on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, it captivated many with its stunning visuals and immersive experience. Although it disappeared from stores on July 9th last year, those who had downloaded it could still enjoy it at their leisure. However, the demo has resurfaced on Steam, but under a different name.

A Scam Disguised as Matrix World

Recently, the demo has reappeared on the Valve platform, now known as Matrix World, with a price tag of 19.50 euros. Unfortunately, some users have unknowingly fallen victim to a scam, as the game no longer retains its original name. Steam has provided some interesting details about the publisher behind this «video game.»

The publisher is Netlex, a small Russian studio with over 5 years of experience in game development, specializing in Unreal Engine 4 and various programming languages. They have previously released four video games, according to Steambase. However, it is crucial for users to be cautious and avoid purchasing this game, as it may result in financial loss.

Player Feedback on the Matrix Demo

Unsurprisingly, there are players who have acquired this product. While some express satisfaction, others are disappointed. In the reviews for Matrix World, one user mentions, «The graphics are impressive, but there is nothing to do.» Another user comments on the accuracy of the New York map, suspecting it to be an asset from Unreal Engine 5. One player finds the game «confusing,» while another advises against it, stating, «There is nothing in it, so I do not recommend it at the moment.»
