KONAMI and WayForward Unveil Exciting New Trailer for Contra: Operation Galuga
Konami Digital Entertainment BV and WayForward have released new information about the highly anticipated action game, Contra: Operation Galuga. The game is set to launch on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam in early 2024.
The latest trailer showcases a powerful lineup of playable characters and an engaging narrative that will immerse players in the adrenaline-fueled, side-scrolling action that the Contra series is known for since the 1980s.
Contra: Operation Galuga is based on the story and characters from the original Contra arcade/NES game. The game begins with a meteor shower on the Galuga Archipelago, followed by an invasion from the terrorist group Red Falcon. When all other options fail, the Earth Marine Corps sends their elite soldiers, Bill Rizer and Lance Bean of the Contra unit, to investigate and neutralize the threat.
In Story Mode, players will have the opportunity to choose from a roster of more than six heroes, including:
- Bill Rizer: The field leader of the Contra unit, known for his exceptional physical strength, agility, and military expertise.
- Lance Bean: An expert shooter and skilled in machinery, recruited by Bill Rizer from his days as a guerrilla fighter.
- Ariana: A tremendously skilled warrior from the Galuga archipelago, fighting her own battle against the enemy forces.
- Lucia: The Deputy Commander of the Earth Marine Corps, possessing great field operational talent and intelligence skills.
- Lt. Stanley Ironside: A veteran leader of an armored platoon in the GX Army, utilizing a powered Hercules exosuit to enhance his combat abilities.
- Probotector: An autonomous training robot used by the Contra Unit, equipped with cutting-edge technology and battlefield capabilities.
In addition to the Story Mode and Arcade Mode, Contra: Operation Galuga will feature a Challenge Mode with 30 exciting missions. These missions range from navigating different environments with limited ammo to surviving relentless enemy hordes.
Players can enhance their abilities in the Perk Shop by redeeming in-game credits, without the need for microtransactions. These improvements include upgrading character skills, facing scenarios with specific weapons, increasing invulnerability after respawning, and obtaining other useful bonuses. Each player can equip up to two perks.
More details about Contra: Operation Galuga’s gameplay, characters, and story will be revealed as the game’s release date approaches.
