Sony presents the impressive LYTIA LYT-900 photographic sensor that will equip the Xiaomi 14 Ultra and the OPPO Find X7 Pro

Sony Unveils New High-End Photographic Sensor for Xiaomi 14 Ultra

The Sony Lytia LYT-900 is Sony’s latest photographic sensor designed for high-end smartphones.

When we recently discussed the Xiaomi 14 Ultra and its exceptional camera capabilities, we focused solely on the lenses. However, at that time, information regarding the sensor used in the device was not available. It was widely assumed that the Japanese company Sony, which supplies sensors to various manufacturers, would be the provider.

Now, it has been revealed that the Xiaomi 14 Ultra and the OPPO Find X7 Pro will feature Sony’s latest sensor, known as the Sony Lytia LYT-900. According to Gizmochina, this sensor will be utilized in both devices. While there are still uncertainties surrounding the camera design of the OPPO Find X7 Pro, with some sources predicting a conventional round shape and others suggesting a more unconventional form, it is certain that the Sony Lytia LYT-900 will be at the heart of it.

Introducing the Sony Lytia LYT-900

The Lytia LYT-900 is Sony’s most advanced sensor to date. With a resolution of 50 MP and a size of 1 inch, each pixel measures 1.6 μm, resulting in a diagonal size of 16,384 millimeters.

This sensor incorporates CMOS technology in stack, featuring two separate layers for the transistor and the photodiode. This design allows for larger diodes, enabling the capture of more light and delivering superior image quality, even in low-light conditions.

According to reports, the LYT-900 is believed to be an enhanced version of the Sony IMX989 sensor, which has been widely used in current-generation smartphones, including the Xiaomi 13 Ultra. It is rumored that the LYT-900 will replace the IMX989 in the upcoming Xiaomi 14 Ultra, and it may also be featured in the vivo X100 Pro+.
