Exciting Video Games to Look Forward to in the First Quarter of 2024
If 2023 was an exceptional year for video games, it seems that 2024 is set to continue the trend, at least in the first part of the year. While it remains to be seen if this momentum will carry on throughout the year, if any surprises await us, or if any highly anticipated games end up disappointing, one thing is certain: the first quarter of 2024 has four games that are definitely worth keeping an eye on.
Persona 3 Reload (February 2)
The anticipation surrounding Persona 3 Reload is largely due to the massive success of its predecessor, Persona 5, back in 2016. Persona 5 was an absolute masterpiece, impressing players with its stunning visual style, captivating story, intricate time and calendar management, engaging combat mechanics, and the seamless integration of the ordinary and unconscious worlds. Now, Persona 3 returns in the form of a remake of the 2006 game, incorporating all the elements that made Persona 5 so exceptional. If all goes well, we can expect a monumental gaming experience.
Final Fantasy VII Rebirth (February 29)
In 2020, fans were treated to the first part of the highly anticipated remake of the iconic Final Fantasy VII. This remake, which actually became a reboot due to its unique twist on the original story, left players eagerly awaiting the sequel. Now, the second part of this remake-reboot is finally arriving. In the upcoming sequel, our group of eco-terrorist heroes ventures out into the vast world. After the disappointment of Final Fantasy XVI last year, this is the saga’s chance to redeem itself and deliver an outstanding gaming experience.

Prepare for another remake, this time in the horror genre. Alone in the Dark, released in 1992, laid the foundations for a genre that has since become a favorite among gamers. The game was a groundbreaking horror adventure, offering a story, setting, and gameplay that were unimaginable at the time. Dragon’s Dogma 2 (March 22)
Here comes another sequel, but as we have mentioned before, in the world of video games, sequels, prequels, or remakes are not synonymous with creative laziness. Instead, they represent an opportunity to refine and enhance a successful gameplay formula. The original Dragon’s Dogma was released in 2012 and, despite being a great game, technical limitations hindered the full realization of its ambitious dark fantasy world. Since then, Capcom has achieved undeniable critical and commercial success, establishing itself as a company that consistently delivers exceptional gaming experiences. Dragon’s Dogma 2 is undoubtedly a safe bet and is expected to be one of the standout games of the year.
