Custom Motorcycle with a Ferrari F355 Engine
A wealthy fan of the world of motors, Birgen Hansen, has created a unique and eccentric custom motorcycle with a Ferrari F355 engine. This extraordinary creation is the result of a pact made between two friends and a decade-long journey.
The Birth of an Eccentric Custom
It all began with a late-night conversation between two friends who decided to embark on a mission to create a motorcycle housing a powerful Ferrari F355 V8 engine. Birgen Hansen, a wealthy and retired Dane with a passion for motorcycles and mechanics, took on the challenge and turned it into a convoluted yet spectacular project.
With access to a seamless unit from his previous importation of Boss Hoss motorcycles, which featured Ford V8 engines, Birgen had the perfect starting point. All he needed to do was replace the Ford V8 engine with the impressive Ferrari V8 engine. The fate of the removed Ford V8 engine remains a mystery, leaving us with unanswered questions.
A Bet Turns into Reality
During their conversation, Birgen and his friend made a pact that Birgen would build the motorcycle if his partner managed to obtain the Ferrari engine. Surprisingly, a Ferrari F355 engine arrived at Birgen’s house, sourced from a scrapyard, thanks to his friend’s determination. The impossible had become possible.
The Ferrari F355 engine is well-known among car enthusiasts for its high-pitched roar and unique sound. With 5 valves per cylinder and a displacement of 3,495 cc, it delivers an impressive power of 380 CV.
A Decade of Challenges
Although they had all the necessary ingredients, the construction of the motorcycle proved to be a 10-year journey filled with engineering challenges. Placing the engine and the two cooling radiators, located under the pilot’s seat, required careful ergonomic considerations.
The bike was painted red, adorned with the original F355 logo on the sides of the fake tank, staying true to its Ferrari roots.
A Legal Vehicle
After 8 years of construction and another 2 years for the homologation process, the motorcycle finally passed the tests in Denmark in January 2017. It became a legal vehicle on April 10, 2017, after completing the registration process. The personalized license plate proudly displays «F355».
A Rare Experience
Although Birgen Hansen still owns the motorcycle, its weight of over 460 kilos has made riding it less frequent. However, the simple act of turning it on and listening to the powerful howl of the Ferrari F355’s V8 engine remains a satisfying experience. Birgen continues to enjoy this rare custom motorcycle in the comfort of his own garage.
