The woman, who started out as a sales assistant, has worked in the Lidl retail chain for eight years, including five in management positions. Communicating with people is one of the most enjoyable jobs for Rita, so even as a store manager she willingly rushes to the checkout to help her colleagues and also to chat with customers.

«During all the years at Lidl I gained a lot of experience in communicating with people, because during this period I had to deal with many different people. Even now, as soon as I have the chance to work at the checkout, I feel like I am recovering: I am happy to serve customers, to communicate directly with them», says the store manager.

She says that working as a store manager helped her learn to hold a conversation, to communicate even with those who are more modest and shy.

“There are new employees who are more silent, do not dare to ask or be the first to speak, but such a person is not only necessary, but it is necessary to bring them closer. Teamwork is very important in our organization, so it is important not forget that we all need to foster a good atmosphere at work,” says Rita.

A strong team helped integrate

Rita says joining the team wouldn’t be so easy without the team members. According to the store manager, in this store you can feel the teamwork and strength of the team, the ability to support each other and the independence of colleagues.

“The fact that we more or less know our colleagues from Kaunas also helped me to integrate quickly into the team, so I wasn’t a newcomer. I already feel like part of the team: I go to work and feel that I fit in here,” he says the store manager.

Rita says that these last few months have been quite intense: a new team, a store and responsibilities, but despite this she and the entire store team can achieve good results.

«The team members feel very well with each other: everyone knows their responsibilities and what work needs to be done. We all know each other well, we joke a lot, the team is characterized by vitality, perhaps I have never met people who communicate and collaborate like this actively,» says Rita.

According to the store manager, even a strong team needs to be further strengthened and joint meetings help to do this.

“Our team’s dream this summer is to sail a yacht in the Kaunas lagoon. We won an internal competition for the shops, the prize of which was a budget for the team’s entertainment. We hope that this victory will help make this a reality dream and to further strengthen the relationship with colleagues outside the store», says the woman.
