Al menos tres personas murieron y otras tres resultaron heridas este viernes tras ser atropelladas por un autobús fuera de servicio que se estrelló contra una parada en el centro de Estocolmo. La policía de la capital sueca dijo que continuaban los esfuerzos para identificar a los fallecidos, mientras que los heridos fueron hospitalizados, según un comunicado publicado en su sitio web.
Antes de conocer el número de muertos, el primer ministro sueco, Ulf Kristersson, no quiso especular sobre los motivos del accidente y pidió a la población que dejara trabajar «a la policía, a las ambulancias y a los servicios de rescate» porque «ahora tienen un trabajo muy difícil e importante que hacer».
El accidente se produjo hacia las 15.23 horas, en una parada del distrito de Östermalm (noreste). Las fuerzas de seguridad se limitaron a explicar que «el episodio está siendo investigado como homicidio agravado» pero precisaron que por el momento se desconocen las causas. Sin embargo, según el canal de televisión SVT, la policía no cree que se haya tratado de un acto terrorista. De hecho, lo investigan por «negligencia grave» por parte del conductor, que sobrevivió y está siendo interrogado.
