Ai Pin: The Revolutionary Wearable Device Set to Replace Smartphones
Presented on November 12, 2023
US-based technology company Humane has unveiled Ai Pin, a groundbreaking wearable device that aims to replace smartphones. Developed in collaboration with Qualcomm, OpenAI, and Microsoft, this innovative gadget aims to make artificial intelligence (AI) more accessible to users.
The Ai Pin offers a wide range of features, including the ability to take photos, recognize gestures, project a visual interface using a built-in laser, and summon a virtual assistant, all through voice commands or a touchpad. Additionally, it utilizes AI technology to create messages in the user’s own tone of voice, classify emails, and even translate languages.
Powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor and a dedicated AI engine, the compact Ai Pin operates as a stand-alone unit, eliminating the need for pairing with a smartphone or any other device. Humane has partnered with Microsoft and OpenAI to access their AI models and platforms, ensuring the device’s capabilities can be expanded as technology evolves.
Starting from November 16, customers can place their orders for the Ai Pin, with shipments expected to begin in early 2024. The device is priced at $699, and a $24-per-month subscription plan is available, which includes a dedicated phone number and unlimited talk, text, and data through a partnership with T-Mobile US.
The co-founders of Humane, Imran Chaudhri and Bethany Bongiorno, who previously worked on product and software design at Apple, describe the Ai Pin as “the embodiment of our vision of integrating AI into the fabric of daily life.”
