The Game Awards 2023: The Nominees for Game of the Year
The die is cast. The games nominated for this edition of The Game Awards have already been announced. 2023 has been a year of contrasts for the video game industry. On one hand, the number of great titles that have come to market remind us of the glorious 1998, a memorable year due to the arrival of classics such as Metal Gear Solid, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, Half-Life, Gran Turismo, or Resident Evil 2, among others. On the other hand, technology companies and the electronic entertainment sector have carried out workforce restructuring that has resulted in the loss of more than 6,000 jobs. Therefore, in this opinion column, we reflect on whether or not it has been a good year for video games.
The Candidates for Game of the Year
The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, Baldur’s Gate 3, Super Mario Bros. Wonder, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, and Resident Evil 4 Remake are the candidates for Game of the Year at The Game Awards 2023. Choosing the winner is very complicated and it will undoubtedly make us rack our brains. But today, we are not here to talk about the winners, but about the games that have achieved the nomination. In this video written, voiced, and edited by Rubén Vázquez, we review the main categories and the titles that are competing for the awards. You can see it right above these lines, in the header of the news.
