The telephoto camera lens on the iPhone 15 Pro Max will be expanded to both iPhone 16 Pro models.
As we eagerly await the release of the iPhone 15, rumors about the next generation iPhone, the iPhone 16, have already started to circulate. While we recently learned that the iPhone 16 Pro models might come with a 48-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens, new reliable information has now emerged regarding their camera capabilities.
Renowned analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has received some noteworthy rumors about the upcoming smartphones from Apple, which have been compiled by MacRumors. It appears that the iPhone 16 Pro models will feature the same 5x optical zoom functionality found in the iPhone 15 Pro Max.
Apple to Expand Optical Zoom to More iPhone 16 Models
The iPhone 15 Pro Max boasts a 12-megapixel telephoto lens that can achieve up to 25x digital zoom. This highly anticipated feature was expected to be included in the iPhone 15 Pro, which currently offers a 3x optical zoom.
Implementing this camera technology has posed significant challenges for Apple during the production phase of the iPhone 15. However, now that the company has overcome these obstacles, it is ready to introduce the 5x optical zoom to both the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max.

Furthermore, there have been rumors suggesting that the iPhone 16 might incorporate technology to enhance the brightness of its OLED screen while reducing energy consumption. This innovation was already introduced this year with the new iPhone 15 models, which offer a maximum brightness of 2,000 nits.
Additionally, speculation has arisen regarding the iPhone 16 Pro potentially featuring a stacking CIS sensor manufactured by Sony. It is rumored that Sony initially faced difficulties in supplying Apple with this image sensor in sufficient quantities. However, this issue did not cause any delays in the launch of the iPhone 15 lineup.
Lastly, it is believed that the iPhone 16 Pro could come with a slightly larger display compared to the current generation. While the iPhone 15 Pro has a 6.1-inch Super Retina XDR display, the iPhone 16 Pro is rumored to implement a 6.3-inch front screen. This change could also impact the overall size of the device, allowing for the necessary hardware components to accommodate the telephoto lens and its 5x optical zoom.
