Matt Booty Reveals XBOX’s Future Plans
¡XBOX has exciting plans for the future! The President of Games and Content at XBOX, Matt Booty, recently participated in a podcast called “The Fourth Curtain” where he shared some insights into what the company has in store for gamers.
A Great Video Game Every Quarter
During the hour-long podcast, Booty revealed that XBOX’s objective is to release a major video game every three months. He stated, “We have the objective of having a great video game 4 times a year,” emphasizing the company’s commitment to regular and exciting releases.
Exciting Releases in 2023
In 2023, XBOX has already lined up several ambitious and highly anticipated games. The space-themed RPG “Starfield” by Bethesda has been a major focus of development. Additionally, “Hi-Fi Rush” was released earlier this year, followed by “Minecraft Legends” in April, “Redfall” in May, and a new addition to the “Forza Motorsport” franchise in October.
Upcoming Games in 2024
Looking ahead to 2024, XBOX has some exciting titles planned. “Ara: History Untold” is a strategy game based on civilizations and is set to release before the end of this year. Another title, “Towerborne,” is a beat ’em up game developed by Stoic. And one of the highlights for next year is “Hellblade 2.”
Matt Booty’s New Role and XBOX’s Focus
In October, Matt Booty was announced as the new President of Games and Content at XBOX, along with 12 other executives who were promoted within the organization. Booty’s focus is clear: all video games are important, regardless of the studio or potential profitability. This aligns with Microsoft’s recent acquisition of Activision-Blizzard and their diverse portfolio.
Embracing Diverse Game Experiences
Booty emphasized the importance of both large franchises like “Skyrim” and “Halo,” as well as smaller games from studios like Double Fine. He stated, “Both extremes and what is in between are relevant.” XBOX aims to cater to a wide range of gaming preferences and is committed to delivering diverse and engaging experiences.
